ISaGRAF used in Kontron’s ThinkIO Industrial PC

Kontron's ThinkIO DIN Rail PC provides the combination of a complete, effective PC (Intel® Pentium®
MMX compatible 266 MHz processor), the WAGO IO/-System 750 as well as the leading IEC61131-3 compliant software ISaGRAF (Soft PLC provided by ICS Triplex ISaGRAF).

Software Configuration: Fail-Over functionality, 2 HMI applications, AE viewer,Trend Viewer,
Modbus IP driver, PFBDP driver, SmartPID

Description: The system controls the hydraulic parameters of the hot water pipes in District Heating Region “Zemliane”. The basic algorithms are realized via remote control of Rockwell’s PowerFlex 7000 Frequency
Drives for 6 kV network pumps (4 of them, 2 MW each). The system controls the water flow and the pressure
in the heating plant and in the end points where signals are measured by local WAGO modules and
transferred to the system via wireless Ethernet. The system realizes control of the flow through 4 water-heating
boilers of 100 MW each. The system controls the flow of feeding water to the heating network.

Results: The system achieves at least 0.5 % precision in the control of the differential pressure
(main control algorithm), pressure at the back water pipe (via feeding water flow), level and pressure
in the deaerating unit. Extensive information is given to the working personnel – over 60 trends, reports for
100 parameters, etc. The control of pumps is fully automated – speed control, automatic change of pumps,
automatic loading of newly switched on pump, automatic unloading of a pump intended to be switched off
automatic check of work conditions for each pump, temperature control of the bearings of the motors
and pumps.
