Release Notes - ISaGRAF OPC DA Server 3.0 (version 1.0) Significant Enhancements ———————————————————————— Version 1.0 ===================== The OPC DA server is compatible with OPC DA 3.0 standard of the OPC foundation. The OPC DA server supports the Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 operating systems running 32/64 bit environments. For the Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems, make sure to set the permissions accordingly to allow the Configurator to write in the registries. The OPC DA server enables selecting one of three target code styles: real, simulator, and C target. The OPC server enables specifying a secondary IP address as back-up if communication fails with the primary IP address, when using the ETCP network. Communication statistical information is available for individual resources: request-response average time, request-response maximum time, request-response minimum time, scheduled other requests pending, scheduled reads per minute, scheduled reads pending, and total messages per minute. A time-out factor, multiplied by 4, enables specifying the number of seconds after which a time-out occurs following no response. The OPC server registers connections with all resources before refreshing information. When transmitting large numbers of Boolean variables, the bit field feature reduces the required bandwidth by up to eight times. With the bit field feature, each bit of a byte represents a Boolean variable. In a standard transmission, a Boolean variable requires a complete 8-bit byte. The bit field feature supports all IEC 61131 data types except for BOOL, REAL, LREAL, DATE, TIME and STRING variables are available for use as bit-field types. Variable members of arrays or structures are also available for use as bit-field types. The OPC DA server can manage multiple projects concurrently and identifies resources using their numbers and IP addresses. Therefore, the server can communicate with multiple resources from different projects having the same number. The OPC server configuration interface provides the option to hide a message, indicating to restart the OPC server, displayed when a mismatch occurs between the CRC on the target and the CRC of the project. The message box comes from another thread, not influencing the OPC DA Server polling. Known Issues ———————————— To load a refreshed symbol table, you need to stop and restart the OPC DA server. The OPC DA server supports the ETCP and ISaRSI networks; The server does not support the HSD or ISaGRAF 3 networks. For projects using the HSD network, you need to define an ETCP network with the 127.0.0.1 IP address in your project and start the ETCP network driver. When the refresh rate exceeds the capacity of the computer running the OPC DA server or the remote target, bad quality of items may occur. When entering OPC item IDs, you need to indicate these using lower-case characters. Before changing the path of project files in the OPC Setup module to access another project, you must make sure to stop the OPC server. The OPC server does not support simple arrays of ULint and LReal type variables. The OPC server cannot connect to more than one ISaRSI network per workbench project.
